Ligustrum ov. Aureum Readybag

Ligustrum ov. Aureum Readybag hedging or Golden Privet has a dark green centre to the leaf surround by a rich golden yellow edge.  It is a bright and easy to maintain semi evergreen hedge.  When trimmed with a taper this makes a superb dense hedge.

Golden Privet (Ligustrum ov. Aureum)

Ligustrum ov. Aureum Readybag hedging is a semi-evergreen hedge. It is a brightly coloured shrub with a rich yellow edge to the leaf with a green centre, this yellow border can be of varying thickness, sometimes the leaves can be completely yellow. It grows slower than the Green Privet (Ligustrum ovalifolium) but it still forms a stunning hedge. Like the Green Privet, the Golden Privet will grow in most soils and aspects and form a lovely hedge.

If trimmed with the top slightly narrower than the base the Ligustrum ov. Aureum readybag hedging will keep leaves all the way to the ground.  In very cold winters, poor soils or windy locations these plants will lose a lot of their leaves but they will flush back into leaf in the spring and look just as stunning as previous years.

This is the perfect hedge for a small garden.

The Royal Horticultural Society gave Ligustrum ov. Aureum an Award of Merit in 1977 and an Award of Garden Merit in 1984.
